The collection
The works as they survive
Tempera and wash, woodcut and linocut, sculpture in laterite and cement. Each work in the house is shown with its wall label, its maker and its story, the way a museum would show it.

Works in our care
We add each work here once it has been photographed and its record checked. If you would like to see one in person, write to us and we will set the room aside.

How we show a work
Every work keeps its story
A painting by one of these masters is also a document. Who made it, where it has been, who kept it and why: all of that travels with it.
Shown wholeWe photograph every work square-on and colour-true, and never crop it.
A full recordProvenance, exhibitions and literature, as far as we can trace them, with the front and the reverse.
Protected by lawWorks by Rabindranath, Abanindranath and Gaganendranath Tagore and Nandalal Bose are national art treasures and stay in India.
A work in your family
Has your family kept one of these works?
Many of these works have stayed in families for generations. We would be honoured to learn their stories, with no obligation of any kind.
